Day 1 - San Pedro
Fly from Santiago to Calama. Our excursión begins in the arid Chilean Desert, upon arrival to Calama we will be taken to San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the middle of the driest desert. In the late afternoon we will walk into the startling Moon Valley for a unique sunset and get a feel for the extraordinary energy that inhabits this area and is almost palpable.
Day 2 – Atacama
In the morning we will head on to the Cejar lagoon by bike. The journey ensures stunning vistas before jumping into the lagoon to cool off at the end of the trail. The high level of salt will make you float effortlessly. In the afternoon, we will take a horseback ride to explore the Quebrada del Inca, a small creek that allows vegetation to grow in this most arid of deserts.
Day 3 - Puritama and massages
This morning we venture to the hot springs of Puritama, one of San Pedro’s most extraordinary assets before relaxing in the afternoon with a wonderful massage.
Day 4 - San Pedro - Santiago
After breakfast we will head back to Calama to fly to Santiago. Once in Santiago we will be taken to a top-class hotel in one of the capital’s finest neighborhoods, with many restaurants and great shopping close by.
Day 5 - Santiago – Valparaíso
You will be picked up at your hotel and take the Sun Highway to reach Isla Negra, on the central coast, where you will visit the house of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, Nobel Prize winner in 1971. His house, overlooking the sea, was built as an escape from the bustle of Santiago. The house preserves his collection of antique bottles, Indian masks and nautical artefacts. Afterwards, you will head north connect with Route 68 and drive along the Casablanca Valley until you arrive in Valparaíso, the oldest and most important port of Chile. Continuing north along the coast we will reach the city of Viña del Mar, the most famous and visited seaside city of the area, with its many parks of huge trees and palms that gave Viña del Mar the well deserved name of Garden City.
Day 6 - Valparaíso – Santa Cruz
After breakfast we will head over to one of the most prestigious wine valleys in Chile, through an alternate road we will be able to experience the real Chile, little ranches and towns that give you a glimpse of authentic Chile. Once in Santa Cruz we will be able to experience the Chilean Huaso (cowboy) culture, with little shops that offer the typical attire. The museum of Colchagua, just blocks away from the main Square offers one of the most extraordinary collections of pre-hispanic art in South America.
Day 7 - Wine tasting – Santiago
A great wine region awaits, so we will embark on a journey through some of Colchagua’s most refined wineries in order to taste and learn the process that results in some of the best reds in the country. After this, we will head up to Santiago to catch a plane, one taking us to a place with a Different nature; The Lake District. We will arrive to Temuco Airport immersing ourselves into the Mapuche territory, and then Pucón; a Chilean gem combining all of the sophisticated features of a classic town with endless excursions and outdoor activities beneath the perfectly shaped Villarrica Volcano.
Day 8 – Huerquehue National Park
Pucón can be quite inviting when it’s all about exploring, so we will take advantage of such a privileged location to see some of the highlights that captivate many travelers every year. The park has a very distinct geography with towering hills and deep ravines, originating in the glacial era. Its main charm is the native araucaria forest (monkey puzzle tree) surrounding the lakes in the high areas of the park. In the shade of the huge Araucaria trees we can enjoy our delicious picnic, a refreshing swim and take time reflect on how small and ephemeral the human being is in regard to nature. Then back to Pucón where we will spend the night.
Day 9 – Geometric Hotsprings
The Pucon area is quite rich in hot springs, the Geometric thermals are phenomenal, a fantastic design concept, comfortable and hip.
Day 10: Pucón – Puerto Varas
It is time to depart from Pucón and head to the City of Roses; Puerto Varas. Located at the shore of the immense Llanquihue Lake and the Osorno Volcano, you cannot help but appreciate the spectacular views.
Day 11 – Canyoning
Today we will venture into the remote creeks and canyons of this lush green region. The canyoning excursion is one not to be missed.
Day 12 – Transfer out
After breakfast you will be transferred airport for connecting flights.
