Day 1 – San Pedro Sula – La Esperanza


We start our journey by visiting the downtown area of the fastest growing city in Central America – San Pedro Sula. After a visit to the local crafts market “Guamilito” with its colorful stores, we continue via Lake Yojoa to La Esperanza, high in the mountains in the heart of the Honduran mainland. En route we will stop off at the impressive Pulhapanzak Waterfall before arriving to La Esperanza in the late afternoon.


Day 2 – La Esperanza


Today we visit some of La Esperanza’s neighboring towns and experience the different customs and practices of the Lenca people. Located at approx 1,600m above sea level, La Esperanza is blessed with a fresh climate ideal for agricultural practices and blessed with a an abundance of beautiful landscapes.


Day 3 - Gracias & Santa Rosa de Copán


This morning we head to the town of Gracias! This is a wonderful old colonial town famed for its historic churches and the wonderfully atmospheric fortress of San Cristobal. In the afternoon we continue on to beautiful Santa Rosa de Copán. Nestled in the mountains of western Honduras, Santa Rosa de Copán offers an agreeable change from tourist traps and scorching cities.


Day 4 - Santa Rosa de Copán


Off the beaten the path, Santa Rosa is certainly not overrun with travelers. Its cool mountain climate, fine colonial architecture with narrow cobbled streets, and a reputation for friendliness combine to make Santa Rosa de Copán one of the region's most pleasant places to visit. After touring the village and visiting the famous “Flor de Copán” tobacco factory, we follow part of the Mayan trade routes. Along these ancient commercial byways we learn about the social &political organization of the Mayans and theorize on their mysterious demise.


Day 5 - Copán


After breakfast, we suggest a trip to the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán. The site consists of two main areas: the ruins and the sepulchers. Learn about the impressive 63-step stairway, the more than 2,500 hieroglyphs and the impressive Stella.


Day 6 - Copán to San Pedro Sula


Take your leisure today and enjoy the old cobblestone paths and soak in the ethereal feel of this wonderful town. This afternoon we must take our leave of Copán and continue on San Pedro Sula where you will overnight.


Day 7 – Departure
